What we process, and why

• Server logs. Our web server records the IP address, requested page, time, browser identification and referring page of every request, for security and troubleshooting. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 14 days.
• Search queries. The text you type into the check tool is stored together with the number of results, to see which providers people look for and cannot find. It is stored with a truncated, salted hash of your IP address that cannot be reversed. Legal basis: legitimate interest. Retention: 12 months.
• Contact form. Your name (optional), e-mail address and message are sent to us by e-mail and kept in our database so we can answer. Legal basis: taking steps at your request (Art. 6(1)(b)). Retention: 24 months.
• Rate limiting. To prevent abuse, we keep a hashed IP and a timestamp for each form submission and search, for 24 hours. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
• Analytics. Only if you accept in the banner, we load Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. Google LLC then processes usage data on our behalf under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw on the cookies page. Without consent nothing is loaded.
• Server-side page counts. We count page views on our own server without cookies and without storing IP addresses; this produces no personal data.

Data in the register

The site displays the names, addresses and websites of companies, as published by ESMA and national regulators under a legal obligation (Articles 109–110 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1114). Where a sole trader's name appears, its publication rests on that same legal basis and on our legitimate interest in making public regulatory information accessible. Requests concerning register content should be addressed to the regulator that reported it; we will reflect any change in the source.

Recipients

Our hosting provider (servers in the EU), Cloudflare (network security and CDN, with EU data localisation), Mailgun (transactional e-mail, EU region) and, with your consent, Google (analytics). We do not sell or share data for advertising.

Your rights

You may ask for access to, rectification or erasure of your data, restriction of or objection to processing, and portability, by writing to [email protected]. You may complain to the Romanian supervisory authority, ANSPDCP, or to the authority of your own country.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Access to the database is restricted to the operator; passwords are stored hashed.
